Anita Ekberg

Marianne (Swedish pronunciation (listen), 29/09/1931 11/01/2015) was an Swedish
actress, known for her beauty and stunning figure. She was famous for her
iconic role as Sylvia in the Federico Fellini film La Dolce Vita (1960). Ekberg
mostly worked in Italy, where she became an permanent resident in 1964.Anita
Ekberg was born on 29 September 1931 in (Sweden), the sixth of eight children.
Anita was a fashion model during her teenage years. In response to the wishes of
her mother Ekberg was a contestant in Miss Malmo in 1950. It resulted in her
winning the Miss Sweden contest. Despite speaking little English Ekberg
travelled to the United States to compete for the Miss Universe 1951 title.
This was an non-official pageant at the time. The pageant was officially made
officially recognized in 1952. Ekberg did not win the Miss Universe pageant.
However she was one of six finalist. Universal Studios offered her an exclusive
starlet contract. As the starlet at Universal she received training in
elocution and drama, horseback riding, dancing and fencing. She was briefly
featured in The Mississippi Gambler (1953), Abbott and Costello go to Mars
(1953), Take Me to Town (1953) and The Golden Blade (53).
