Sofia Margarita Vergara, Spanish was born on 10 July, 1972. She is an actress presenter, producer, model and TV presenter from Colombia. Vergara was the highest-paid actress in American television from 2013 to 2020. Vergara rose in prominence as host of two shows on Univision's Spanish-language television network in the mid-90s. Chasing Papi (2003) was Vergara's first major acting project in English. Later, she was seen in Four Brothers (2006) and Tyler Perry's comedy Jail (2008). She was nominated for an ALMA Award for the former. In 2009, she started playing Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the ABC comedy series Modern Family for which she was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and eleven Screen Actors Guild Awards.Vergara has also had roles in the films The Smurfs (2011), New Year's Eve (2011), The Three Stooges (2012), Machete Kills (2013), Fading Gigolo (2013) Chef (2014), and Hot Pursuit (2015). Vergara's mom Margarita Vergara De Vergara was a housewife while her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo worked as a cattle rancher within the meat industry. With her five siblings and numerous cousins, she was called "Toti". Vergara completed three years of dental school at the National University of Colombia. But she chose to withdraw from the school two semesters in advance to pursue modeling and showbusiness opportunities.
